The EBSM Assessment Phase ends with the execution of two key stabilising activities. These activities are mandatory EBSM steps, and are designed to give a Library Service a more stable catalogue from which to build a steady and reliable performance improvement.
The activities are based around the tools from the Stock Maintenance stage of EBSM.
When these activities have been carried out, the catalogue will be in a more accurate state from which the EBSM toolset can provide effective Action Plans that are not skewed by erroneous data.
A point to note regarding Stock Check is that whilst the majority of the Assessment Phase involves getting up and running for a collection (or a limited group of collections), it may make more sense for a Library Service to carry out a Stock Check across the whole Library Service as a single activity. Should a Library Service opt to adopt Stock Check in this manner, the effect will be that future scheduling for other collections need not include the Stock Check activity.
